Jerusalem & Christmas

Last Sunday we looked at the Christmas story through the village of Nazareth.  This Sunday, through the mighty city of Jerusalem.  We will see how the birth of Jesus was received in the capital of Judaism.  It was received in three different ways which reflect how it is received today.

Nazareth & Christmas

For the next three Sundays, I will be telling the Christmas story through the lens of three different locations.  This Sunday, Nazareth & Christmas.  How is it that a village of a few hundred people could play a role in the birth of Jesus?  The Old Testament mentions hundreds of cities and villages, but not a word about Nazareth.  The birth of Jesus changed that.

Yes, I Believe

This Sunday, Yes, I Believe In The Sin That We Rationalize.   Most Christians recognize there is sin, but not in their own lives.  Constantly comparing themselves with hardened criminals, a false sense of security arises.  To buttress this, a new terminology has developed.  No one has an addiction; it is called sickness.  No one lies or steals; it is just a lapse in judgment.  The Bible paints a different picture.

Yes, I Believe

This Sunday, Yes, I Believe In The Spirit That Guides Me.   There are some unhealthy ideas about the Spirit that impede His ministry to believers.  We will examine some principles that remind us of the help available to us as we live in a broken world.

Yes, I Believe

This Sunday, Yes, I Believe In The Son We Follow.  Fredrick Nietzsche, a philosopher who paved the way for the rise of Adolf Hitler.  He hated Christianity and wrote that he might be convinced if Christians looked more like Jesus.  We will address his take through the words of Paul in Philippians 2.

Yes, I Believe

This Sunday we will address, Yes, I Believe In The Father Who Created Me.  The most important thing that can be said of us is what we believe about God.  We live in a culture that worships the gods of health and wealth, self, the inner child, and the near-death experience.  We will investigate why we worship the God of creation.

Yes, I Believe

This Sunday we launch a new study series, Yes, I Believea series about the basic teachings of the Bible.  Our first lesson, Yes, I Believe In The Bible That Reveals Life To Me.  There are many opinions about the Bible, yet it is our opinion that influences us most.

Hitting The Refresh Button, IV

We conclude our series, Hitting The Refresh Buttonasking the question, What Can We Do Right Now?  We make a decision to believe, we go where faith goes, and do what faith does.  Plus, one final step to help us refresh our walk with Christ.

Hitting The Refresh Button, II

Sometimes our faith tank just feels empty.  What once thrilled you, now is boring.  Prayer-life becomes stagnant.  We see more the negative in others rather than the positives.  This Sunday, we continue our series, Hitting The Refresh Button with a conversation about, What Is Holding Us Back?
