I Timothy - The Plan & The Problem III

I had planned on only using one week to get through this section, but have realized that there are so many implications that a clear interpretation is necessary.

This Sunday, we will lay the foundation to help us grasp what is being taught in I Timothy 2:1 – 3:2.

I Timothy - The Plan & The Problem II

Last time we introduced “The Plan” – God’s plan for the church at Ephesus.

This Sunday we will unpack “The Problem.” God had a plan, but the men and women in the church were getting in the way.

These instructions were critical for the health of that church then, and just as healthy for us today.

We have, however, read more into the problem in today’s application by coming to conclusions not warranted by the text.

We will take a close look at this for the next two weeks.

Brazil Mission Trip Report

I Timothy - The Plan & The Problem

As we move into I Timothy 2, we will examine The Plan & The Problem.

Paul gives specific instructions for Timothy to execute in the church at Ephesus, and then he addresses the problem that is getting into the way.

The plan was to make a priority of prayer, but the problem is men and women not functioning well in their primary roles.

Chapter 2 is one of the most misunderstood chapters in the New Testament. It deserves our careful and thoughtful exegesis.

Things We Must Know - Part II

This Sunday is Part II of Things We Must Know in our series on I Timothy.

We must know our calling for focus; must know our Gospel for faith, and we must know ourselves to see where we fit. Paul and Timothy were working on preserving the Gospel.

The evil one distorts by moving brethren to push their “conclusions” of the Gospel to be equal with the Gospel. Issues.

Issues are killing the effectiveness of the body of Christ. Get a group of believers focused on an issue, and the seed of distortion is sown. I Timothy addresses this insidious evil. Paul equipped Timothy to know a wolf when he sees one.
