Pursuing Personal Peace II

We are in week two of Pursuing Personal Peace, a study of Psalm 32. Dr. Karl Menninger, famous psychologist, was one of the first to link the impact of the mind on the body.

He was convinced that if his patients felt they had been forgiven of their sins, most could walk out of psychiatric hospitals.

Most of David’s torment was revealed in his body. Man was not made to be comfortable with sin. Psalm 32 is about how God led David back to peace.

Pursuing Personal Peace

Daily I deal with people. Most of the time all I see is what is on the cover, but experience has taught us all, that there’s so much going on below the surface.

We have become a nation that is searching for peace. Personal burdens lead millions to activities and lifestyles that distract from emotional pain – emotional pain from not knowing forgiveness.

Sunday we will examine Psalm 32, a document of David’s torment for past sins, and how he found peace.

We will begin a series just from this one psalm, Pursuing Personal Peace. God does NOT desire we live with the pain of unresolved sin.

He has a plan if we have a heart of faith.

What Are We Celebrating Here?

In the Book Of Esther the people of God began an annual celebration called Purim.

God didn’t command or require it; they just felt a need to have a few days of celebrating the miraculous events surrounding Esther, Mordecai, Hamman, and the Jews.

Mordecai had the idea that their deliverance from evil was something that needed to be celebrated and remembered forever.

To this day, Jews remember and celebrate.

Do we know what we are celebrating when we gather on Sundays? Do we understand the story of redemption and how God’s intervention saved us from the evil one?

If we forget, we can’t celebrate fully.

This Sunday we will look at the core reason why we celebrate.

Music, Worship, & Psalm 95

Music in our culture is huge. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry. Our houses and cars are cluttered with CDs and plug-ins for our MP3 players.

Music goes everywhere with us. God uses our love for music to inspire and instruct us in worship. Music ministers to us as we seek to minister to God.

This Sunday, Music, Worship, & Psalm 95.

Our study will look at music in the different seasons of life and how it touches the mind, the will, and the heart for good.
