Greatest Immigration Story in History

What was the greatest immigration in history? The Hebrew Exodus? Pilgrims coming to the New World. Twentieth century Europeans coming to America? Illegal aliens in our present day?

None of these.

Sunday we will talk about immigration – why people do it - and what Jesus has to say about those seeking a better life.

God's Plan For Fathers

This week’s Father’s Day message will feature two very popular songs of our day, Because You Loved Me, written by Diane Warren and The Greatest Man I Never Knew, performed by Reba McIntyre. Two very different songs tell two very different stories about the influence and power of fathers in the home.

If your children wrote a song about your influence, what would the words reveal about you? Dads need a plan if their children are to receive and carry a message of hope for their future.

Sunday we will discuss the plan.

90 Minutes In Heaven

Baptist minister, Don Pipper was driving his small Ford on his way home from a conference in Texas. A truck crossed the center line and hit him head-on. The medical response team checked for life in his mangled body, but there was no pulse, and one look at the broken and bloody body confirmed that he was dead. But, he wasn't. Another minister came upon the scene and asked the policeman in charge if he could pray for the man in the car with the tarp covering his body. He was given permission, and a miracle happened. Don Pipper awoke singing, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus"!

We believe we should worship our Father every day with lives that are lived for Him. To help us live purely and compassionately, we meet every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. to praise our Lord and to fellowship with one another.

Our worship assembly is based on the New Testament. Our teaching is Christ-centered and biblically based, and we praise God with acappella songs.

Following the practice of early Christian believers, we observe the Lord's Supper (communion) on a weekly basis. This service is open to all who are baptized followers of Jesus Christ. Believers are invited to individually participate as the trays are passed.

We also have a weekly monetary collection from our members. Everyone is invited to share in this; however, our visitors need not feel obligated to give.

Our congregation also meets in Small Groups at various homes on Sunday evenings to devote more time to Bible study and Christian fellowship.

Christ Kids is a special program that has been developed especially for children 4 years through the 3rd grade. At a select time in the worship assembly, the kids will be dismissed to attend this program. Children will experience their own age-appropriate time of worship, which will include singing, lessons, prayer, puppet shows, and much more. Class is held in our Education Wing.

A staffed nursery is available for infants and toddlers during the worship assembly. Loving, caring volunteers from the congregation are happy to care for your child.

Attention Moms of Young Children

A MOMS (Mothers of Midland) group has formed in the Midland area for moms with small children. The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays each month (Sept-May) 6:15-8:00 pm at the Wheeler Road Church of Christ. Children's classes are provided.

For more information, contact the church office at 835-8559.
